The quine(girl) behind Junction arts...

So who is Elaine Thomson? Here is a quick summary of my history and how I got to this point.

As a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone college of art in 2003, I began exhibiting work and pursuing my career as an artist, but I'd always wanted to open my own retail/gallery space and eventually I got there 5 years later after moving to Aberdeen.

Junction art and gifts was established in July 2008 and so my dream of owning my own art gallery and gift shop had finally became a reality.

After nearly 11 years of lots of hard work, lots and lots of ups and downs, re-branding, adding picture framing, staff and meeting many excellent artists, makers and customers, oh and starting a family along the way, I decided it was time for a change and closed the physical doors of Junction arts in April 2019. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make but it felt like the right thing to do.

Since then I had a break to gather my breath and then began trying to figure out who I was an artist again, it had been along time since I focused on any creative endeavors myself.

Now after making another tiny human and moving closer to home turf, I decided to keep Junction arts as the branding for my own work, rather than it being an umbrella to support fellow artists and makers as it used to be.

Although I'm still figuring things out and what I want to create, I've definitely made a good start on my new path and I hope there's lots more exciting things to come.
