Doreen Bothwell

Doreen worked as a Cartographic Drafter for 25 years before entering Gray's
school of art in 1994 in which she graduated from Fine art, drawing and
painting in 1999. Since then she has continued to work as an artist but also as
an art tutor with Aberdeen city council.

Her work mostly focuses on contemporary landscapes with the titles being
dedicated to the songs and lyrics of the Beatles and music of the sixties. She
explains:

"The sixties were an important time in my life as I was a teenager then; the
music brings back nostalgic memories.  The landscape is Scotland, places I've
observed while dog walking in the countryside around cults. The colours are
bright and sometimes psychedelic, in memory of the Beatles. I love bright
colours and I am constantly surprised at the reaction of one colour to another."

Doreens framed mixed media paintings range from £105 - £140.
